DOCTOR OF INTEGRATIVE HOMEOPATHY DEGREE

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Homeopathy Level I
Homeopathic Principles and Philosophy
The student will learn the history, theories and principles of homeopathy as discussed by Samuel Hahnemann in his book “Organon of the Medical Art.” -  The fundamentals of homeopathy, history, and dilutions will be discussed. Dilutions used to treat a variety of health care problems will be reviewed. Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each ailment will be presented.

This course will also exposes the students to the theories, ideas and principles of Homeopathy as utilized in the practice of Natural Health Care.  At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to understand the basic fundamentals of homeopathic philosophy.  The philosophy section of instruction covers development of homeopathic philosophy, underlying theories of practice and evaluation, scope of practice, and  homeopathic ethics.

Homeopathy Level II
Taking a Case
Interviewing the client is the most important aspect of helping the client and determining the best remedies to recommend. The student will learn how to ask for descriptions of symptoms. Learn how all senses can be useful in determining the remedy.

Homeopathy Level III
Repertory Study
Using a Repertory is the next step to finding the appropriate remedy. The student will learn to prioritize symptoms and find them in a Repertory. This book has an index of symptoms structured around body systems and the mind.

Homeopathy Level IV
Materia Medica

Descriptions of each remedy can be found in a Materia Medica. This book is necessary to determine the symptom picture of each remedy. The symptoms described by the client must be similar to the symptom picture of the recommended remedy.

Homeopathy, Level V Iridology and Japanese Hara Analysis

The student will learn the analysis of the iris and how it relates to the human anatomy. The Hara Analysis is a tool used to determine the present status of each energy center. Ailments related to the Immune system will be discussed.

 

Homeopathy, Level VI Traditional Chinese Medicine

The student will learn the philosophy and principles of TCM and will also learn the 12 major Meridians and their symptoms when out of balance.
Homeopathy, Level VII TCM Observations – Tongue & Pulse Analysis
The student will learn how to interpret the appearance of the tongue in relation to various organs and how to feel for the pulse to determine the status of the client’s health.

Homeopathy Level VIII
Case Studies - Acute & Chronic Conditions
Cases of acute & chronic conditions will be discussed and homeopathic remedies for each condition will be analyzed. The student will use the Repertory and Materia Medica.

Homeopathy Level IX
Clinical Treatment of Disease – 10 cases
The student will work with ten clients along with a Naturopath, and be able to participate in analysis and observe the dynamics of working with a client. Each homeopathic interview is unique, the student will understand how to deal with a potentially complex situation.
-  Symptom documentation and natural remedy selection.
-  Evaluation of the meridian and energy systems.
-  Iris, tongue, pulse, hara (abdominal energy), and muscle trigger points.
-  Identification of treatment method.
-  Performance of ten Homeopathic exams and reports.
-  Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each ailment.

Doctorate Exam #4: Homeopathy

ADVANCED HOMEOPATHY

Advanced Homeopathy, Level 1, Homeopathic Constitutional Remedies
 This course discusses the remedies based on the individual’s genetic vitality. Case studies are discussed through out the course.

Advanced Homeopathy, Level 2, Homeopathic Miasm Remedies
 This course discusses the remedies based on the individual’s tendencies and predisposition to specific diseases. Case studies are discussed through out the course.

Advanced Homeopathy, Level 3, Homeopathic Sensation Method
The Sensation Method is based upon the classical homeopathic approach revealed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. The method looks for strange, rare and peculiar symptoms.  It is based on classical principles of homeopathy and is the key to determining the client’s “vital expression”.  The student will learn how to structure the initial interview in a way that both practitioner and client reach a point where they determine the pattern that fits the remedy. The practitioner will learn that mirroring creates a deep awareness in the client. The method uses the variations of a single question, “How do you experience that in your body?”  Reference text: “Spirit of Homeopathy” by Rajan Sankaran and “Sensations” by Ildiko Ran

Advanced Homeopathy Level 4, Homeopathic Facial Analysis
The study of the face and homeopathic therapies selected based upon this assessment. The student will learn how to analyze seven primary miasms by observation of facial features. Miasmatic dominance remains throughout one’s life and can be seen in the physical facial characteristics. Facial characteristics do not change neither can the dominant miasm.  Conclusions were based on clinical observations.  HFA Narrows down the remedy selection. A digital camera is required for this class.  Reference text: “Facial Analysis” by Grant Bentley

HOLISTIC HEALTH CARE

Anatomy and Physiology (Holistic Health I/Holistic Nutrition I):   
Physical characteristics of the human body.  Placement of organs and their functions.

  1. Heart and circulatory system anatomy, structure and function: movement of blood through the system, arteries, blood cells, and capillaries.
  2. Muscular system structure and function: attachment, tissue types, types of movement, muscle cell fibers, facial expression, nerve connection, torso, arm, legs, and feet muscles.
  3. Digestive system structure and function: processing and passage of food, mouth and esophagus, stomach, large and small intestines.
  4. Endocrine system structure and function: glands, hormones, connection with emotion, energy, pituitary, male and female reproductive system, thyroid, pancreas, and spleen.
  5. Skeletal system structure and function: body framework, protection, bones and their articulation, bone composition, skull, spine, ribs, arms, legs, pelvis, and knee.
  6. Respiratory system structure and function: lungs, air movement, exchange of gasses, nose, trachea, and bronchi.  
  7. Sensory organs and the nervous system structure and function: hair, skin, nails, eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and nerves.
  8. Filtration systems structure and function: kidney, genitourinary, spleen, liver, and lymphatic.

 
Beginning Natural/Holistic Care (Level II):
-    Introduction to the foundations and principles of natural health care.
-    Theories presented on acupuncture, hypnosis, meridian systems, acupressure, and energy  
     healing. 
-    Organ systems of the body and recommendation of natural remedies and treatments to  
     strengthen these systems.
-    Introductory homeopathy, herbology, aromatherapy and acupressure.
-    Basic anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
-    Introduction to basic client consultation procedures.
-    The pathology, natural treatment and current modalities use for the following common
     ailments:  anxiety, arthritis, constipation, depression, diarrhea, headaches, head colds,
     hemorrhoids, insomnia, menopause, and PMS.

Two client consultations are required at this level.

Intermediate Natural/Holistic Care (level III and IV):
-     Pathology, natural treatments and current modalities used with more complex health
      conditions: Aging, alcohol withdrawal, allergies, athletes foot, bruises, burns, yeast infections, 
      cystitis, varicose veins, and bad breath.
-     Intermediate homeopathy, botanicals, aromatherapy, healing touch and acupressure.

  1. Biofield energy evaluation.
  2. Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each ailment.

Two client consultations are required at this level.

Advanced Natural/Holistic Care (level V and VI):
-  Pathology, natural treatments and current modalities use for clients with chronic disease
   conditions: hypoglycemia, indigestion, low immune systems, low thyroid, menopause,
   neuralgia, warts, ringing in the ears, prostate disorders, kidney disorders, liver disorders, and 
   heart disorders.
-  Visual observation, palpation techniques (of abdomen), skin evaluation, tongue observation,   
   iridology, kinesiology, pulse study, pH testing of urine and saliva.
-  Advanced homeopathic care, botanical care, aromatherapeutic care and detoxification 
   procedures.
-  Blood pressure taking, the consultation/exam procedure, and case taking (client history).
-  Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each ailment.

Two Client consultations are required at this level.

Treatment of Diseases, Holistic Level VII (10 client cases):
-  Symptom documentation and natural remedy selection.
-  Evaluation of the meridian and energy systems.
-  Iris, tongue, pulse, hara (abdominal energy), muscle trigger point and pH evaluations.
-  Identification of treatment modality.
-  Performance of ten naturopathic exams and reports.

ADVANCED HOLISTIC HEALTH CARE CLINICAL
                                                     

Remedy Testing:

Each participant will refine their ability to use Kinesiology, Dowsing, Pendulum, Biofeedback. Testing remedies allows the practitioner to determine the best remedies among the myriad of choices, and gives the client confirmation of your choices.

Naturopathic Consultation Workshop:
Participants will work with client volunteers to refine skills doing client consultation including interview, iridology, hara, pulse, face analysis, tongue analysis, remedy testing and recommendations.

Client Interview Workshop:
Each participant will learn to conduct a holistic/homeopathic client interview.
Interviewing the client is a very important aspect of determining the client’s main issues and finding the sources of the illness. Building a good rapport with the client paves the way to the client’s ability to comply to your recommendations.
Participants will receive forms and checklist that help streamline the interview.

Iridology Workshop I:
Iridology can help the practitioner determine the following:

Learn how to use a digital camera and laptop to use in your practice.

Iridology Workshop II:

Participants will use the digital camera and laptop to analyze client volunteers’ iris with a naturopathic doctor’s supervision.

Remedies, Homeopathy, Supplements Workshop:
Each participant will receive a comprehensive review of products usually recommended by Naturopaths.  Pros and cons of product inventory, web purchases, vitamin stores, etc.

Detoxification Workshop:
Participants will learn what type of detoxification to recommend, how often and which nutritional support to be added. Knowing when and how to detoxify is a very important part of holistic health care.

Holistic Nutrition 1:

Foods for Health (Holistic Nutrition 2):
-  How the components of foods compliment the use of other natural health care modalities. 
-  Benefits to food when assisting the client in promoting optimum health.

Supplements for Health (Holistic Nutrition 3):
-  Nutritional information that compliments the use of herbs when caring for clients.
-  Benefits of various vitamins, supplements and mineral in health care.
-  Supplementation to the diet promoting faster healing for the client.
-  Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each ailment.

Holistic Nutrition 4: Diet & Nutrition – Clinical Case Studies                     

This level prepares students to work with clients. There are preparation made by each student; designing of an intake form, interview questions, and nutrition plans.  The students, along with the instructor meet clients and develop a plan based on the interview. The student will conduct a follow up with the client to present their plan with the instructor.

ADVANCED HOLISTIC NUTRITION CLINICAL

Food for Healing Workshop I:
The focus of this workshop is to learn the foods to recommend to clients suffering from cancer and other critical immune issues.
Food for Healing Workshop II:
The focus of this workshop is to learn how to teach clients where and how to shop for healthy foods. Includes grocery stores, health food stores, fast food and other restaurants.
           
Joy of Eating Workshop:
The focus of this workshop is to learn techniques or tips to pass on to clients to help them develop good eating habits, easy meal planning and preparation.

HERBOLOGY

Herbology I and II:
-  Basic herbology in a systems approach.
-  The study of the fundamental principles involved in the use of herbs to promote health.
-  Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each ailment.

Herbology III (Clinical Workshop):
Each participant will receive a comprehensive review of herbal products usually recommended by Naturopaths.  Pros and cons of product inventory, web purchases, vitamin stores, etc.

ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure I and II:
-  Oriental meridian systems and how touch affects those systems
-  Pressure application by the hands and fingers.  
-  Acupressure methods and the balance of the flow of energy in the body.
-  Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as related to each meridian.

Acupressure III (Clinical Workshop):
The participants will practice the acupressure techniques in a clinical setting.

Holistic Laboratory Technology

Prep for Federal Certification

Prerequisite: Anatomy and Physiology:
Holistic Health Care Level I or Holistic Nutrition Level I

Holistic Laboratory I
This course will teach the proper procedures of the CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) waived laboratory tests approved by the Federal Government. Pathologies related to the Urinary system and cardiovascular system.
Upon completion of this course the practitioner will be able to use test kits to determine the presence of various substances in the client’s system, cholesterol, ph balance, protein, leukocytes and ketones.
The student will learn how to interpret the results of the test and learn the various remedies and food to recommend in order to assist the client back to a balanced and healthy system.

Holistic Laboratory II
Pathologies related to the Endocrine system and Reproductive system will be discussed. This course is an advanced level of laboratory testing that will teach the The student will learn how to interpret the results of the test and learn the various remedies and food to recommend in order to assist the client back to a balanced and healthy system.
The following tests will be demonstrated: Tests for hormones, Pregnancy test, Fertility test, STD tests

Holistic Laboratory III:
Pathologies related to the Immune/Lymphatic System will be discussed. CLIA tests for infections, mononucleosis, lyme disease,  HIV, carcinoma and nonspecific screening test for inflammatory activity, will be demonstrated. The student will learn how to interpret the results of the test and learn the various remedies and food to recommend in order to assist the client back to a balanced and healthy system.

Holistic Laboratory IV:
Pathologies related to the Respiratory System and Digestive System will be discussed. CLIA tests for allergies, qualitative detection  of respiratory syncytial virus antigen, GAS infections, nutritional analysis and H. pylori.
The student will learn how to interpret the results of the test and learn the various remedies and food to recommend in order to assist the client back to a balanced and healthy system.

Holistic Laboratory V:
Screening test for the presence/detection of amphetamines, THC, cocaine metabolites, methamphetamines, barbiturates, morphine, opiates, oxycodone and  PCP in urine.
The student will learn the proper protocol for collection of specimens.

MIND-BODY (VISUALIZATION)

Mind Body Medicine (Visualization):
-  Promoting positive thought in the client.
-  Understanding the client psychological outlook.
-  Basic techniques in communication, relaxation, guided imagery and visualization.

Visualization Workshop I:

Visualization and other Mind/Body Medicine techniques are useful in helping the practitioner assist the client to change habits, relieve panic attacks, phobias and relieve stress. Each participant will be able to practice more visualization techniques. Client volunteers will work with participants while supervised by a naturopathic doctor.

Visualization Workshop II:

The focus of this workshop is to learn how to teach your client to meditate and encourage them to make it a part of their daily routine.

Completion of Core Curriculum: Upon completion of the curriculum, the student is eligible to receive a Doctor of Homeopathy Degree from the First National University.

Fees and Charges: Fees for the core requirements, including instruction or study materials are at the discretion of the private institution or practitioner with whom the student has studied.
